This week, we begin our final project for the semester. Over the next five weeks, we will be designing and creating something beneficial to a community. This week, we just had to document our thought process upon choosing a group.

Working with Aiden Boldes, we decided to focus on the LGBT community. We decided on this community largely because of how easy it would be to get in touch with people in the community to get feedback on our project.

This week, Aiden and I met and discussed possible ideas for the project. Aiden came up with the idea to make forms more accessible to people who don’t neatly fit into the male/female binary, and later I had the idea of some kind of educational game/interactive project that could help people learn some of the ever changing terms and vocabulary of the community.

We detailed our discussions via our Mess Map, found here.

Reflection

Like Aiden mentioned in his post, this project does seem to be a fairly large undertaking. That being said it also seems like it could be a lot of fun, and something that we could get a lot out of. I like the topic and the direction that we’re going in, so I’m hopeful that the project will be more enjoyable than stressful.
